Erfahrungsbericht über die Arbeit mit jugendlichen Straftätern und das Leben in der Hauptstadt Manila
Das neunmonatige Sozialjahr von Christian Walch und Johannes Tuder bei ACAY, einem von den Missionarinnen Mariens geleiteten Hilfsprojekt, hatte zwei Schwerpunkte: Einerseits den Besuch von Jugendgefängnissen und andererseits die Betreuung entlassener Häftlinge. Im „Youth Center Program“ geht es darum, gefangenen Jugendlichen die Möglichkeit zu geben, ihre Zeit in der Zelle sinnvoll zu nutzen (u.a. durch Sport, Schachspielen…). Dadurch spüren die Jugendlichen, dass es jemanden gibt, der an ihrem Leben interessiert ist.
Ziel des zweiten Projektes („After Care Program“) ist es, Ex-Häftlingen zu helfen, im Leben wieder Fuß zu fassen. Schwerpunkte dieses Projektes sind: schulische Nachhilfeleistungen, spirituelle Bildung, Hausarbeit, Teamarbeit und sportliche Aktivitäten. Neben der Arbeit mit jugendlichen Burschen gibt es bei ACAY auch eine „Schule des Lebens“ für Mädchen. Diese kommen oft aus schwierigsten Verhältnissen, und die Erfahrung, wie in einer Familie
aufgehoben zu sein, gibt ihnen neuen Halt im Leben.
